Oral, Dental, and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral, Dental, and Maxillofacial Surgery in Turkey

Oral, dental, and maxillofacial surgery is a specialized branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting all soft and hard tissues in the mouth, including the tongue, lips, cheeks, salivary glands, teeth, jawbone, and jaw joints. Common procedures performed in our clinic include implant placement, extraction of both erupted and impacted teeth, apical resection, root resection, cyst removal, sinus floor elevation, fracture treatment, bone augmentation, grafting, vestibular deepening, and regulation of gingival smile lines.

These procedures are conducted under local or general anesthesia after a thorough clinical and radiographic examination of the affected area. In some cases, a biopsy may be performed before treatment. Stitches applied during surgery are typically removed after 7–10 days, and patients are monitored through regular follow-up appointments.

What Is Tooth Extraction?

Tooth extraction is the process of removing a tooth from its socket in the bone, performed under local anesthesia by a dentist or oral surgeon.

What Is Impacted Tooth Extraction?

Impacted tooth extraction typically refers to the removal of wisdom teeth that are unable to erupt through the gums. Due to shrinking jaw sizes, wisdom teeth may remain trapped under the gum line, potentially exerting pressure on adjacent teeth and causing significant discomfort. This procedure alleviates the pain and prevents further complications.
