Hydrocephalus Treatment
Hydrocephalus is a condition characterized by abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain. This accumulation can cause the ventricles in the brain to enlarge and increase intracranial pressure. Hydrocephalus can cause a variety of symptoms, including abnormal head growth and developmental delay in infants and headaches, difficulty walking and decreased cognitive function in adults.
Treatment of hydrocephalus is usually surgical and aims to drain excess CSF. The most common treatment methods include shunt placement and endoscopic ventriculostomy.
