What is a breast lift?
Breast lift surgery regulates the sagging that occurs as the breasts lose their shape over time. This operation is usually performed at the same time as breast augmentation or breast reduction. Before breast lift surgery
Breast lift surgery in Turkey begins with the examination of the patient who decides to undergo the operation. During the examination, the person's breast tissue and the position of the nipple are checked. Depending on the degree of sagging, information about the surgical procedure is given. It is determined what kind of breast structure the patient wants to have after the operation. For this, a simulation is performed by the doctor in order to make a clear decision. After the mammography and ultrasound examination, a daily plan for the breast lift surgery is prepared.
Before breast lift;
- Alcohol and cigarette consumption should be stopped 3 weeks before the operation.
- Blood thinners should not be taken 1 week before the procedure.
- Expectations regarding the operation, possible problems and the manner in which the procedure will be performed should be discussed in detail with the cosmetic surgeon.
- Patients under 40 years of age should undergo a breast ultrasound, and patients over 40 years of age should also undergo a mammogram.
- Since there is an increased risk of bleeding during menstruation, the procedure should be planned after the end of the period.
- Urine and blood samples should be prepared on the morning of the procedure.
- Eating and drinking should be stopped at least 6 hours before the procedure.
- If an upper respiratory tract infection occurs, surgery should be postponed.
After breast lift surgery
The postoperative period is usually pleasant. In the first few days, you may feel mild pain when moving or coughing, but this will decrease with daily use of painkillers. Even if you limit arm movements, the pain will subside and have a positive effect on the healing process. The breasts are wrapped in a bra-like wrap. A thin tube (drain) is placed on the sides of the breast to drain the blood and fluid that may accumulate inside. The drain is removed by the 4th day. A semi-sitting position for 3 days after the operation speeds up recovery. On the 5th day, the dressing is opened and the bandage is applied. Dissolvable sutures are often used, which do not need to be removed. In the case of non-dissolvable sutures, these are removed after the 10th day. The sutured areas should not be exposed to the sun for 6 months. After the operation, it is necessary to wear a special bra (sports bra) for 8 weeks.
- You can resume liquid food and walk around your room 3-4 hours after surgery.
- Even if you experience mild pain the first night, it can be easily controlled with simple painkillers.
- During the hospital stay, serum, painkillers and antibiotics may be administered for support.
- After the check-up, which usually takes place the next day, the drains are removed and the patient is discharged.
- In some cases, the drains may remain in place for 1 to 2 more days if deemed necessary.
- When you return home, you should eat plenty of liquid food, take the recommended antibiotics and painkillers, and wear your special bra without ever removing it.
- During the first few days, you should stay away from activities that require frequent use of your arms and avoid movements that cause pain to speed up recovery.
- 3-4 days after the operation, you can take a bath. Within a week, you can return to your normal life.
- The bruising that may occur in the initial period will disappear on its own after a week, and the swelling after 2-3 weeks.
- It takes about 3 months for the swelling due to the surgical procedure to completely disappear and for the breasts to take on their final shape.
